T'ai Chi and Qigong for Stress and Mood

Transforming challenges to strength and wisdom.

This program is part of the comprehensive and unique WaQi system for developing robust health and fitness, used and refined at the Mayo Clinic, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Center for Taiji and Qigong Studies.

T’ai Chi and Qigong for Mood and Stress involves a combination of guided meditation and gentle moving practices. The guided meditation—“functional meditation”—is seated and focuses on changing the mental and spiritual state in the face of challenges to produce a sense of peace and tranquility. The moving exercises serve to relax and energize the body. These two practices complement each other and maximize the benefits.

What Students Are Saying:

“My medical practice is as a psychiatrist. Stress and high staff turnover are part of daily life. My daily t’ai chi/qigong practice has significantly improved my sleep and anxiety. I no longer react to situations but respond with less stress. My life is much more in balance. Dr. Yang’s program of movement and meditation is unique and life changing. I strongly encourage all to give WaQi a try.”
—Linda N., M.D.

“As a physician, I am aware of the effects of stress.  Dr. Yang discusses Chinese philosophy and meditates on its wisdom, with lessons for our busy lives. For health care professionals, like everyone else, the pandemic has taken a toll on our health, and reduced our social contact, often leading to burnout and other mental health issues. Dr. Yang’s WaQi program offers an effective and enjoyable way to improve our physical and mental well being.”

—Jeffrey M., M.D.
